Coast Guard Announces Gulf of Mexico Safety Zones

The U.S. Coast Guard has announced the establishment of a safety zone effective Thursday, May 11 that precludes any vessels except those attending the facility or those less than 100 feet in length and not engaged in towing from entering within 500 meters of the Heidelberg Spar in Green Canyon Block 860 in the Gulf of Mexico.

Additional safety zones were also announced for the Horn Mountain Spar in Mississippi Canyon Block 127 (eff. May 11), Lucius Spar in Keathley Canyon Block 875 (eff. Apr. 11), Vito Floating Production System in Mississippi Canyon Block 939 (eff. May 11), and Constitution Spar (eff. May 15).

Additionally, the Coast Guard has announced that it is seeking comments by Monday, May 15 on the establishment of a new safety zone that would preclude any vessels except those attending the facility or those less than 100 feet in length and not engaged in towing from entering within 500 meters of the Anchor Floating Production Unit in Green Canyon Block 763 in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as its proposed establishment of a similar safety zone for the ARGOS Semisubmersible Floating Production Unit in Green Canyon Block 780.
