Comments Sought on Offshore Wind-related Fisheries Mitigation Guidance

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management today announced that comments are being sought by Monday, Aug. 22 on draft guidance for mitigating potential impacts of offshore wind development on commercial and recreational fishing.  Final guidance will be developed over the course of the summer.

The draft guidance addresses project siting, design, navigation, and access, safety measures, environmental monitoring, and financial compensation.

BOEM Director Amanda Lefton said her agency is “seeking open and honest conversations focused on finding solutions to potential challenges as we work to provide clean, safe domestic energy for American taxpayers while at the same time providing good-paying jobs and building a U.S. supply chain to support this effort.”
