BOEM Seeks Comments on Wind Energy Leasing Off Oregon, Central Atlantic

The Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management today announced that it is seeking comments by Tuesday, June 28 on possible commercial wind energy leasing in ~1.16 million acres of federal waters off the south central and southern Oregon coast.  Responses to the call for information will be assessed to determine whether to schedule a competitive lease sale or issue a noncompetitive lease.

BOEM noted that the agency is considering 2 GW of near-term commercial development for the initial leasing activities off Oregon.

BOEM also announced that it is seeking comments by Tuesday, June 28 on possible commercial wind energy leasing in ~3.9 million acres of federal waters off the central Atlantic coast off Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, and North Carolina.  Responses to the call for information will be assessed to determine whether to schedule a competitive lease sale or issue a noncompetitive lease.
