POTUS Highlights Infrastructure and Restoration in Visit to Great Lakes

President Biden today traveled to Lorain, OH and provided remarks on the bipartisan infrastructure law and Great Lakes restoration.  Biden highlighted the need for investments in the Great Lakes and the benefits the provide including drinking water, jobs, boating and fishing opportunities, and being a vessel for the shipment of goods to the country and the world, and announced $1 billion in funding from the infrastructure bill to support Great Lakes restoration activities.

Biden said that the funds would help accelerate cleanup of sites across 6 states in the Great Lakes Basin, and said “[w]e’re committed to clean them up.”  He also noted a recent announcement committing over $500 million to upgrade the Soo Locks in Michigan.
