BOEM Announces Final EIS for Rhode Island Offshore Wind Project

The Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management today announced the availability of a Final Environmental Impact Statement for the construction and operation plan submitted by South Fork Wind, LLC for its proposed wind farm and export cable project offshore Rhode Island.

The Final EIS’ proposed action is to approve the construction, operation, maintenance, and eventual decommissioning of the wind energy facility and export cable.  The project includes up to 15 wind turbine generators with a nameplate capacity of 6-12 megawatts per turbine, submarine cables between the generators, and an offshore substation.  The facility would connect to the existing mainland electric grid in East Hampton, NY.
