U.S. IOOS Advisory Committee to Hold Public Meeting

NOAA’s National Ocean Service today announced that the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System Advisory Committee will hold a virtual public meeting on Friday, Feb. 5.  The meeting, which will include one 10-minute public comment period, will focus on working group updates and ongoing committee priorities, including the role of ocean observations in forecasting, strategy and vision for the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System, partnerships for a successful System, requirements for the System, and finalization of language and messaging for a memo to be sent to the new administration.

The Committee is tasked with advising the NOAA Administrator and the Interagency Ocean Observation Committee on issues including the administration, operation, management, and maintenance of the U.S. IOOS, expansion and periodic modernization and upgrade of technology components of IOOS, and the identification of end-user communities, their IOOS-related information needs, and the effectiveness of IOOS in disseminating information.
