Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force to Hold Public Meeting

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today announced that the Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force will hold a virtual public meeting Dec. 8-10.

The meeting agenda includes updates on new species occurrences in the United States, updates from interagency invasive species organizations, presentations on horizon scanning and risk assessment as tools for invasive species management, presentations on ballast water and Asian carp management programs, updates on priority outputs to advance the goals identified in the Task Force’s 2020-2025 Strategic Plan, responses to recommendations from the Task Force regional panels, and opportunities for public comment.

Established by the Nonindigenous Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act of 1990 and composed of federal and ex-officio members, the Task Force’s purpose is to develop and implement a program for U.S. waters to prevent introduction and dispersal of aquatic invasive species, to monitor, control, and study such species, and to disseminate related information.
