Comments Sought on Ocean Science & Technology Partnerships

On behalf of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), the National Science Foundation today announced that comments are being sought by Thursday, March 19 on opportunities and constraints on building and sustaining partnerships in ocean science and technology.  The announcement notes that public input will help inform OSTP and Council on Environmental Quality efforts to identify opportunities and develop recommendations for collaboration across the ocean science and technology enterprise.

OSTP is particularly interested in feedback on the following:

  • Opportunities for cross-sector partnerships and collaborations where federal participation or facilitation could advance the development and application of ocean science and technology;
  • Existing effective cross-sector ocean science and technology partnerships and why they are successful;
  • Opportunities for federal government to strengthen or facilitate existing ocean science and technology partnerships in the private, nonprofit, and other sectors, including the specific types of partnerships in which the government should play a larger role and why;
  • Opportunities to enhance federal and non-federal utilization of the National Oceanographic Partnership Program; and
  • Existing barriers or constraints that limit opportunities for cross-sector partnerships in ocean science and technology, including barriers limiting partnerships with the federal government
