The U.S. Geological Survey today announced that it is seeking comments by Friday, July 7 on a draft prospectus for an assessment of the linkages between biodiversity and climate change, as directed by FY 2022 appropriations legislation.
USGS is also seeking nominations by Friday, July 7 from individuals interested in serving on the authoring team for the assessment, which will cover the United States, Canada, Mexico, U.S. territories, and Freely Associated States.
USGS also seeks expressions of interest by Wednesday, June 7 from those interested in serving on the 35-member Biodiversity and Climate Change Assessment Guidance Committee to be convened by the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation’s John S. McCain III National Center for Environmental Conflict Resolution.
Individuals are specifically sought with experience in areas including the physical sciences, biological sciences, social sciences, climate-change impacts, application of indigenous and local knowledge, valuation of biodiversity and ecosystem services (economic and non-economic), conservation decision-making and planning (local to national), and existing laws, policies, and policy tools relevant to biodiversity or climate change.
