OMB Seeks Comments on Deregulation Across Federal Government

The Office of Management and Budget today announced that it is seeking comments by Monday, May 12 on ideas for deregulation, including the identification of specific regulations that should be rescinded or replaced because they stifle American businesses and ingenuity.

In seeking comments on regulations that are unnecessary, unlawful, unduly burdensome, or unsound, OMB asks for detailed reasons to justify rescinding or replacing any such regulations that are identified, requesting that commenters pay particular attention to regulations that meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Inconsistent with statutory text or the Constitution
  • Costs exceed benefits
  • Outdated or unnecessary
  • Burdens American businesses in unforeseen ways
