The Northeast Regional Ocean Council (NROC) will hold a hybrid in-person/virtual public meeting in Greenland, NH on Thursday, May 15.
The meeting will include a demonstration of the new design for the Northeast Regional Ocean Data Portal (being released in June), a summary of efforts to improve the accessibility of datasets relied on to inform government, private sector, and research decisions, and updates and feedback on NROC Committee projects to identify regional seafloor mapping priorities, improve understanding of emerging technologies and related ocean planning issues, assess potentially submerged archaeological and cultural resources, and advance implementation of living shorelines to mitigate storm and flooding risk.
NROC is a regional ocean partnership formed in 2005 by the Governors of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut to provide a voluntary forum for states and federal partners to coordinate and collaborate on the development of goals and priorities and address regional coastal and ocean management challenges with creative solutions that support balanced uses and conservation of the Northeast’s ocean and coastal resources.
