NOAA today announced that the Marine and Coastal Area-Based Management Advisory Committee will hold a public virtual meeting on Aug. 27-28.
Meeting agenda items include committee team building and sharing, a NOAA update, presentations on subcommittee scopes and focus (including Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act funding, and indigenous and tribal engagement), feedback on subcommittee work plans, cross-cutting priorities (conservation metrics, Conservation and Stewardship Atlas, and communication of area-based management), committee goals (including outputs and timelines), and public comment sessions.
Established in late 2022, the Committee’s scope includes advising the NOAA Administrator on areas including but not limited to the “America the Beautiful” 30×30 conservation initiative, with NOAA previously noting that the Committee will provide a forum for discussion of opportunities to enhance conservation of biodiversity, promote climate resilience, and expand access to nature for underserved communities.
