NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration and Research today announced that the Ocean Exploration Advisory Board (Board) will hold a public meeting in Silver Spring, MD on Apr. 25-26.
The meeting will include discussion on the FY 2022 National Defense Authorization Act, status of the Ocean Exploration Cooperative Institute, performance indicators for the national Ocean Exploration program, incentivizing data operability across the Ocean Exploration community, and recommendations for improving data availability.
The Board, which was established pursuant to the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009, advises the NOAA Administrator on strategic planning, exploration priorities, competitive ocean exploration grant programs, and other matters as requested. The Board is also expected to play a significant role in helping to define and create a national ocean exploration program.
