U.S. National Climate Task Force Holds Meetings

The White House today announced that the U.S. National Climate Task Force led by Asst. to the President and National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy held its sixth meeting, which included discussion on President Biden’s recent travel to states impacted by climate events and an “all-of-government” approach to assisting communities with disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

As part of the meeting, the White House said that the Task Force discussed “additional ways in which to align the President’s priorities across every federal agency in a way that creates good jobs, lowers costs for consumers and businesses, advances environmental justice, and makes America a leader in new industries.”

In August, the White House announced that Task Force held its fifth meeting, which included discussion on latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, moving the bipartisan infrastructure bill and Build Back Better agenda through Congress and “driving additional climate ambition.”

Additionally, White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Brenda Mallory discussed administration efforts to ensure that the federal government delivers at least 40% of the overall benefits of investments in climate and clean energy to disadvantaged communities.

The Task Force is charged with supporting the organization and deployment of a government-wide approach to combat the climate crisis, including by facilitating planning and implementation of key actions including ocean, water, land, and biodiversity conservation.
