The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management today announced that it is seeking comments by Jan. 3, 2022 on its proposal to hold a commercial wind energy lease sale in the Carolina Long Bay area offshore North Carolina and issue a single lease using a multiple-factor bidding auction format.
The proposed lease sale area includes ~128,000 acres and comprises the majority of the Wilmington East Wind Energy Area. BOEM seeks comments on possibly subdividing the lease area into as many as three lease areas.
