The U.S. Senate today voted 53-45 to confirm Brenda Mallory to be Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality. Upon her confirmation, Mallory said that President Biden “has not wasted a moment in setting our nation on a path to a cleaner, healthier, and more just future” and that “[b]y helping forge unity of purpose – across communities, across the country, and across government – CEQ will help our nation rise to the environmental challenges of our time, from climate change and the nature crisis to the environmental injustices that have plagued our country for too long.”
Mallory most recently served as Director of Regulatory Policy at the Southern Environmental Law Center, and previously held positions as CEQ General Counsel, EPA Acting General Counsel and Principal Deputy General Counsel, Executive Director and Senior Counsel for the Conservation Litigation Project, and Director at Beveridge and Diamond.
