Biden Administration Holds 30×30 Meeting with Outdoor Business Leaders

The White House Council on Environmental QualityInterior DepartmentU.S. Agriculture Department, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration today held a meeting with representatives of outdoor recreational businesses and other organizations to discuss the administration’s efforts to conserve 30% of U.S. lands and waters by 2030.

Administration officials who participated in the meeting said that a report being developed for the National Climate Task Force will include a broad set of principles to guide a “widely supported conservation agenda.”  According to the meeting summary, the principles will reflect consensus views of a range of stakeholders, including being locally supported, inclusive and equitable, science-based, respectful of tribal sovereignty and private property rights, supportive of voluntary, collaborative efforts of private landowners, building on existing conservation mechanisms, and expansive for access to the outdoors.
