The State Department on Tuesday announced that it will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 4 in preparation for the 10th session of the International Maritime Organization’s Subcommittee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers, to be held in London on Sept. 16-20.
Agenda items to be considered at the IMO meeting include development of guidelines for alternative fuels and related technologies, unified interpretation of provisions of IMO safety, security, and environment-related conventions, and recommendations for carriage of liquid hydrogen in bulk.
The State Department recently also announced that it will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, Sep. 24 in preparation for the 82nd session of the International Maritime Organization’s Marine Environment Protection Committee, to be held in London on Sept. 30-Oct. 4.
Agenda items to be considered at the IMO meeting include harmful aquatic organisms in ballast water, air pollution prevention, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from ships, addressing marine plastic litter from ships, reduction of underwater radiated noise from ships, and pollution prevention and response.
