The State Department this week announced that the Shipping Coordinating Committee will hold a public meeting in Washington, DC on Monday, May 22 in preparation for the 107th session of the International Maritime Organization’s Maritime Safety Committee, to be held in London on May 31-June 9. Meeting topics include development of a goal-based instrument for maritime autonomous surface ships, development of further measures to enhance the safety of ships related to the use of fuel oil, and formal safety assessment.
The State Department also announced that it will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, May 3 in preparation for the 10th session of the International Maritime Organization’s Subcommittee on Navigation, Communication, and Search and Rescue, to be held in London on May 10-19. Meeting topics include routing measures and mandatory ship reporting systems and unified interpretation of IMO provisions of safety, security, environment, facilitation, liability, and compensation-related conventions.
