At an event in Miami, FL today, Vice President Harris announced $562 million in federal investments for 149 projects focused on climate resilience in 30 coastal and Great Lakes states and territories. The funding includes $477 million for “high-impact projects,” $46 million for National Fish and Wildlife Foundation National Coastal Resilience Fund projects, and $39.1 million for non-competitive funding to 34 state and territorial coastal management programs and 20 national estuarine research reserves.
Funded by the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said that the projects “will create jobs while protecting people, communities and ecosystems from the threats of climate change, and help our nation take the steps it needs to become more resilient and build a clean energy economy.”
