Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force to Hold Public Meeting

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today announced that the Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force will hold a public meeting on Jan. 11-12 in Falls Church, VA.

The meeting agenda includes reports from Task Force members and subcommittees, discussion on priority outputs to advance Task Force goals included in the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan, presentations on new species occurrences in the United States, aquatic invasive species risk mitigation measures, advancement of the early detection rapid response framework, progress on updating or implementing species management plans, recommendations by Task Force regional panels, and public comment.

Established by the Nonindigenous Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act of 1990 and composed of federal and ex-officio members, the Task Force’s purpose is to develop and implement a program for U.S. waters to prevent introduction and dispersal of aquatic invasive species, to monitor, control, and study such species, and to disseminate related information.
