Comments Sought on Draft EIS for Proposed Atlantic Offshore Wind Facility

The Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management today announced that it is seeking comments by Monday, Aug. 8 on a draft Environmental Impact Statement for the construction and operations plan submitted by Ocean Wind, LLC for its proposed wind project offshore New Jersey.

The proposed action is approval of the application to construct, operate, and maintain the wind energy facility and associated export cables, which among other things would involve up to 98 wind turbine generators and up to 3 high voltage alternating current substations.

BOEM Director Amanda Lefton noted her agency’s commitment to a review process “that establishes a strong foundation for offshore wind projects in the U.S. while promoting ocean co-use and avoiding or reducing potential conflicts,” adding that public feedback “will help inform the Final EIS and provide invaluable insight to decision makers.”
