NOAA today announced that it is seeking proposals by Friday, Sept. 30 from non-federal entities interested in partnering with the National Ocean Service’s ocean and coastal mapping programs on jointly funded projects of mutual interest. Under the Brennan Matching Fund program, which is subject to funding availability, NOAA would receive and match partner funds (up to 70% of total project cost) and use existing contract arrangements to conduct surveying and mapping activities in FY 2024.
Areas of focus will be mapping of the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone, expanding Alaska coastal data collection, and mapping the full extent of waters subject to U.S. jurisdiction to modern standards. Decisions on proposals are expected by Nov. 1, 2022.
