The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) today announced the addition of 5 individuals to serve in its new Climate and Environment Division, which it said underscores the administration’s commitment to tackling the climate crisis and biodiversity loss “with sound science that draws from a wide range of perspectives.”
In making the announcement, OSTP Deputy Director for Climate and Environment and Climate and Environment Division lead Jane Lubchenco said that “climate change and the loss of species and natural habitats are threatening human wellbeing around the world” and that “the time is ripe for science-based solutions,” adding that the new team members “will help drive integrated solutions that reduce carbon pollution, conserve nature, and enhance the resilience of communities and economies.”
Other members of OSTP’s 19-member Climate and Environment Team include Principal Asst. Director for Oceans and Environment Deerin Babb-Brott, Ocean Policy Analyst Amanda Netburn, Asst. Director for Polar Sciences Larry Hinzman, Arctic Executive Steering Committee Executive Director David Balton, and Arctic Executive Steering Committee Deputy Director Raychelle Aluaq Daniel.
