The Interior Department today announced that it is seeking comments by Tuesday, May 4 on the Draft Phase II Restoration Plan: # 3.2: Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion, which was prepared by federal natural resource trustee agencies for the Louisiana Trustee Implementation Group.
In conjunction with the comment period, virtual public meetings will be held on Apr. 6-8. The proposal includes ~$2 billion to reconnect the Mississippi River to Louisiana’s Barataria Basin.
The Interior Department last month also announced that it is seeking comments by Monday, Mar. 29 on the Draft Restoration Plan 2 and Environmental Assessment: Habitat Projects on Federally Managed Lands; Sea Turtles; Marine Mammals; Birds; and Provide and Enhance Recreational Opportunities, which was prepared by federal natural resource trustee agencies for the Florida Trustee Implementation Group.
The proposal includes ~$62 million to help restore to help restore injured habitats, sea turtles, marine mammals, and birds and to compensate for lost recreational use.
