The West Coast Ocean Alliance recently announced the release of the final agenda for its Dec. 4 annual meeting in Tacoma, WA.
Specific agenda items for the public meeting include updates on the Alliance, West Coast Ocean Data Portal, member perspectives on the benefits of regional coordination, state, federal, and tribal updates, an update on a West Coast ocean acidification monitoring gap analysis, and brief updates from stakeholders on West Coast activities related to conservation priorities (focus on ship strikes and alternative energy), an integrated social-ecological regional vulnerability assessment to ocean acidification, an integrated climate change vulnerability assessment for West Coast fishing communities, and a NOAA ocean exploration update. Additionally, afternoon breakout sessions will address West Coast ocean data and stakeholder engagement.
In conjunction with the meeting, the Alliance released several documents including an updated Communications and Engagement Plan.
The West Coast Ocean Alliance is a regional ocean partnership, whose predecessors include the West Coast Ocean Partnership, West Coast Governors Alliance on Ocean Health, and West Coast Governors Agreement on Ocean Health.
