“As we usher in National Ocean Month and approach the seven-year anniversary of the establishment of a national Ocean Policy to Advance the Economic, Security, and Environmental Interests of the United States, the National Ocean Policy Coalition supports President Trump’s efforts to enhance the benefits that the ocean provides to our nation.
By taking steps to reduce scientifically unwarranted regulatory barriers that needlessly impede ocean access, improve access to data and information, promote efficient coordination, and engage with ocean stakeholders that include commercial and recreational groups, the administration is helping to ensure that federal ocean policies recognize and enhance the critical role that the ocean plays in our nation’s economy, national security, culture, health, and well-being.
As implementation of its ocean policy agenda continues, we stand ready to work with the administration to support productive ocean uses from fishing and energy to waterborne transportation and beyond that provide the nation with economic and societal benefits while conserving natural resources and marine habitat for current and future generations.”
